As Sting's career continues on much of his material gets lost. His hits and many Police tracks remain a considerable part of his sets, usually along with a large chunk of the latest album. Occasionally something will surface as a surprise rarity, such as 2016's live premiere of Something the Boy Said, after 23 years of obscurity. Although that only lasted nine shows.
Much of his first two albums, although significantly present at the time, has disappeared. Since Dominic has been a significant part of his signature "sound" since 1990, it would be nice to see a merge between these two elements (along with Vinne and David). This could easily be done, as If You Love Somebody and Fortress Around Your Heart were a core of the 91 setlist, and Children's Crusade got an outing in 93, and Love is the Seventh Wave in 2016. Consider Me Gone had short version played in 91 and 93. These could easily be recorded live in the studio in these arrangements, and included in a release along with the 93 version of We Work the Black Seam. Russians and Moon Over Bourbon Street were played on the 2010 tour, and could be done with David and Vinnie. As for Nothing Like the Sun, Fragile has been a ever present part, as has been Englishman in New York. Be Still My Beating Heart had a shortened version on 91, and They Dance Alone finally got played with Sting on bass in 2013. Straight to My Heart and a short Sister Moon got 1993 appearances. All of these, along with the 1990 demo of Ain't No Sunshine would make a great integration of 25 years of his core band performances and his first two albums. If he was ambitious (about the past (which he usually isn't)), it would be a great time to bring out two standout track Lazarus Heart and History Will Teach us Nothing which haven't seen the light of day since 1988.
Sting 1985-1990 Live in the Studio wishlist (with Domininc, Vinnie and David)
If You Love Somebody [2]
Love is the Seventh Wave [3]
Children's Crusade [3]
We Work the Black Seam (93 version)
Consider Me Gone [3]
Fortress Around Your Heart [1]
Russians [4]
Moon Over Bourbon Street [4]
Lazarus Heart[4]
History Will Teach Us Nothing [4]
Be Still My Beating Heart [2]
Enlgishman in New York [2]
Straight to My Heart [2B]
Sister Moon [1]
They Dance Alone [3]
Fragile [1]
Ain't No Sunshine (1990 version) (live version [1])
I'd settle for the release of live tracks, as the Soul Cages Live should get a proper DVD/CD release (along with the full version of the 93s show recorded for Ten Summoners Travels/ Demolition Man ), as its probably the best Sting performance/live recording ever done. [1] has been done, [2] has been recorded, but has not seen a decent release (just a Japanese laserdisc), probably recorded for the 93 documentary, [3] possibly recorded, and [4] unperformed.
